EECVC 2018 Report – Computer Vision and Machine Learning

Hello everyone!

As you know, on July 7 we had the third edition of Eastern European Computer Vision conference in Odessa, Ukraine.

Here is a wrap-up from the event we would like to share.

We had

– 275 chosen participants(CV/ML Engineers and Researchers ONLY!!) from 11 countries;

– 9 speakers from Switzerland, Czech Republic, Germany, France, Turkey, Poland, Holland, Belarus and Ukraine;

IMPORTANT: If you would like to be reminded about the conference in 2019 (July 6-7, 2019), please, fill in the form.

More photos from the event can be found in a Facebook album.

We tried to keep the style of the conference as informal as possible but at the same time maintain a high quality of the content.

The topics of the event were the following:

1. Fast Gröbner basis solvers for computer vision problems. ZUZANA KUKELOVA. Assistant Professor and Researcher at Visual Recognition Group, Department of Cybernetics, FEE, CTU in Prague.

2. Statistical SLAM initialization by Bayesian Monte Carlo pose graph optimization.  TOLGA BIRDAL. PhD candidate at the CV Group at TUM, CVPR 2018 Presenter.

3. Detection and Tracking of Fast Moving Objects. DENYS ROZUMNYI. Intern at ETH Zurich, PhD student at Czech Technical University.

4. DeblurGAN – Blind Motion Deblurring using Generative Adversarial Networks. OREST KUPYN. Data Scientist, CVPR 2018 Presenter.

5. Efficient Convolutional Neural Networks for Mobile Devices and Microcomputers. PAVEL AKAPIAN. Deep Learning Engineer & Researcher.

6. Neuroevolution strategies in robotics. BORYS TYMCHENKO. RnD software engineer.

7. Learning Feature Hierarchies and Deep Learning. BOGDAN KWOLEK. Assistant Professor at AGH University of Science and Technology, Kraków, Poland.

8. Abnormal events detection using deep neural network. MAZEN HITTAWE. Researcher at the University of Technology of Troyes(France), KAUST University.

9. Panel discussion – CV Education in Eastern Europe . James Pritts. Viktor Sdobnikov. Bogdan Kwolek. Dmitro Kurduban.

As usual, after a long productive day, everyone could chill out at the afterparty in a night club by the sea :=)))
